The Wordsworth Winter Conference 2027

Call for Papers:
The Wordsworth Winter Conference 2027 will take place March 3-6 in the reading room of the Jerwood Centre in Grasmere, UK.
The conference theme is "Romanticism and the Visual." This obviously includes visual arts, including forms like the panorama and diorama, as well as the illustrated book, but also the idea of vision and the visionary, and research by contemporaries into optics and the physiology of vision. As always, proposals on any Romantic-era subject will also be considered. As it is the bicentenary of Blake's death, papers on Blake are especially encouraged.
Lecturers will include Ruth Abbott of St. John's College, Cambridge, Amy Concannon, Manton Senior Curator of Historic British Art at the Tate Gallery, and Jamie Castell and Nate Mann will perform "Mimic hoots and redoubled echoes: Wordsworth and Schwitters’ Lakeland Soundscapes."
The Winter Conference is non-residential. We recommend the Daffodil Hotel, just across the street from Dove Cottage and the Jerwood Centre, or the Swan Hotel, just up the A 591.

Train
If you are coming from the South, you can get a train to Windermere. From here it is a simple bus ride to Grasmere.

Bus
Once you are in Windermere, you can get the 555 or 559 bus from directly outside the
station. These are regular and will take you directly to Grasmere:

Travelling from Outside the UK
We recommend flying into Manchester airport. From here there is a direct train to
Windermere. There are also frequent trains to Oxenholme - you can easily change at this station for Windermere (one stop).
